Meet the baker

Marisol started with one loaf and a bicycle.

In 2016 she was baking sourdough in a home oven and delivering it to neighbors on Meadow Lane. Word travelled faster than she could keep up with, and by the next spring the shop opened two doors down from where she started.

Nothing has changed much since. Same starter, same recipes, same early mornings. Everything is still made in small batches by four people, which is why the bread sells out and why it's worth coming in before noon.

“If we wouldn't serve it to our own family, it doesn't go in the case.”

Marisol Vega · owner & head baker

One starter.

Fed twice a day since 2016. Same culture, same tang, every loaf we've ever sold.

Four people.

Two bakers, one pastry cook, one at the counter. That's the whole company.

Nothing frozen. Ever.

Dough is mixed the day before, proofed overnight, and baked the morning you buy it.

Regulars say

Four hundred neighbors, roughly.

“The sourdough is the best in the city and I'll say it in writing. I drive twenty minutes every Saturday and it's still warm when I get home.”

ANAnh N.Montrose · Google Review

“Marisol made our wedding cake — pistachio with lemon curd. Three guests asked where it came from before we'd finished cutting.”

JRJenna R.Museum District · Google Review

“I come in for a croissant and leave with bread, a babka and no regrets. Small shop, real bakers, genuinely warm people.”

Order for pickup

Good to know

Questions from the counter.

Can I reserve a loaf for pickup?

Yes — call the shop before 4pm the day before and we'll hold one with your name on it. We don't take same-day holds once the case is out.

How much notice do custom cakes need?

Five days for a standard six-inch round, two weeks for tiered or wedding cakes. Call or email your date and flavor and we'll confirm.

Do you have gluten-free or vegan options?

Every Saturday we bake a small batch of gluten-free buckwheat loaves, and our sourdough is naturally long-fermented. Cakes can be made vegan with notice.

Wholesale for cafés and restaurants?

We supply six local kitchens with bread Tuesday through Saturday. Deliveries within five miles of the shop. Ask for Marisol.
